if only I could tie my kite to the hem of your kimono


My close friend, Mafu, of Echu (one of the four disciples of the Bakurin haiku school), stopped by my house, on the way to the Yoshino mountain full of cherry blossoms. I was envious of him. If he would let me tie a thread of my kite to the bottom of his kimono I could have enjoyed the trip without hesitation, like the paper kite. Too bad.
