Chiyo-Jo's Haiku
Spring

till his hat fades into a butterfly I yearned for him In the spring of 1771 the haijin Gosen, who left Kanazawa for Kyoto, stopped by Chiyo-jo's house in Matto. Holding his bamboo hat, he was saying that he would like to meet haijin Kasen-jo, Ri-ichi, and Chomu, on his trip. He was going to the next lodging place after Matto. So Chiyo-ni saw him off until his hat became the size of a butterfly. |
